This College has been started in Village Miranpur in Bhunerheri Block of Patiala District through Honorable Chief Minister of the State S. Parkash Singh Badal
Punjabi University of Patiala has established its 8th college in Village Miranpur in Bhunerheri Block of Patiala district. It has been set up under the Punjab Governments policy of supporting higher education in rural areas. A grant of Rs 1.33 crore has been allocated for this college by the state government. The vice- chancellor of the university Dr. Jaspal Singh informed that from the academic year of 2012, there will be total 200 seats for programs like B.A., B.Sc., B.Com & PGDCA. Punjabi University, Patiala has established 8th College under the Punjab Government's policy of encouraging higher education in rural areas. This college has been started in Village Miranpur in Bhunerheri Block of Patiala District, which is otherwise an educationally backward area.
Dr. Jaspal Singh, Vice-Chancellor , Punjabi University visited the college campus to personally monitor the academic and other development activities in the college. He was accompanied by University Executive Engineer Manjit Singh Sidhu, Dean Colleges and Dr. Jamshid Ali Khan . Vice-Chancellor discussed the electricity and water arrangements with the concerned officers, College Principal Dr. Narinder Kaur . He instructed the concerned officials to complete the remaining works immediately.
Punjabi University Patiala is one of the renowned universities of India established in the state of Punjab. Punjab is an agrarian state with almost rural population. With the idea to disseminate the knowledge in the rural areas of Punjab the University has initiated University College Miranpur in the year 2012 in collaboration to the government of Punjab. Since its inception, this institution is boon to the rural students especially the girl students in getting the higher education at their door-step in this backward region of Punjab. With the hard efforts of the college teaching and administrative staff the courses of BA, B.Com, BCA, BBA, PGDCA and MCA are running to their finest. Along with the academics the students are provided with other extra co-curricular activities like NSS, Sorts Meet, Youth Activities, lectures, symposium etc for their overall development. For the betterment of the students and with the idea to keep them update about the emerging issues , different departments of the college have established different clubs as well as academic bodies like Red Ribbon Club, Commerce Society, Punjabi Literature and Language Society, Religious Studies Society, Computer Science Society(CSS) which organize lectures, rallies and other youth activities. The college has carved out niche in serving the education to the rural masses. Through this message I give my due wishes to the students for their bright future and hope that they will be nourished here to become the valuable asset for our country and make us proud.
