This Centre was established on 27th July, 2010 to help the Punjabi Computer users. The users can get answers to their queries through phone, e-mail and blogging facilities provided on the website. Numerous Punjabi Software and links of important Punjabi sites are also provided on this website.
The Center is contributing to help those who went to use smart phones and computers in Punjabi Language. There is a Phone Help Line for online guidance and also a blog facility for enquiries on the Centre's Website. Links of Punjabi Software are redirected on the website and several software can be downloaded.
Seven day workshops are held in Punjabi Computer Help Centre to train Research Scholars of Punjabi University in Punjabi computer.
The Centre has conducted workshops to provide awareness about the Standard Unicode System for the employees and teachers of the University. Punjabi University is the first institution in the state where use of standard Unicode based fonts is mandatory in official work.
This year the Centre started a new certificate course in Punjabi computing. The help material like Punjabi Software, CDs, Punjabi Computer colored posters and booklets have been developed/ published.
Users contact the Centre for help through various means. Generaly users visit the Centre personally for solving their problems. Besides, SMS, E-mail, Telephone, Facebook and Whatsapp is also used as a means of communication for this purpose. Centre is running an awareness programme through print, electronics and cyber media. Assistant Professor Dr. C. P. Kamboj has written 26 books, more than 2500 articles and 10 research papers on computerization of Punjabi language. He regularly delivers radio talks and occasionally TV shows in this regard. A regular column of latest information on the same also continues in Ajit and Punjabi Tribune. He also organizes websites, blogs, web-pages, Whatsapp groups, Facebook and other social media methods for the awareness of Punjabi Computer.
