ਸੈਂਟਰ ਫਾਰ ਡਿਵੈਲਪਮੈਂਟ ਇਕਨਾਮਿਕਸ ਐਂਡ ਇਨੋਵੇਸ਼ਨ ਸਟੱਡੀਜ਼ (ਸੀਡੀਈਆਈਐਸ) ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ 2012 ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਤ ਮੰਤਰਾਲੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਸੈਂਟਰ ਫਾਰ ਡਿਵੈਲਪਮੈਂਟ ਇਕਨਾਮਿਕਸ ਐਂਡ ਇਨੋਵੇਸ਼ਨ ਸਟੱਡੀਜ਼ (ਸੀਡੀਈਆਈਐਸ) ਵਿਸ਼ਵਵਿਆਪੀ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਰੁਚੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਅਧਾਰਿਤ ਇਕ ਖੋਜ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸਦਾ ਮੰਤਵ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਭਰ ਰਹੇ ਅਰਥਚਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਖੋਜਾਰਥੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਰਾਬਤਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਤੁਲਨਾਤਮਕ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇਸ਼ਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇਸ਼ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਵਿਕਸਤ ਹਨ, ਦੇ ਉਪਰ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਟੈਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਕੇਂਦਰਿਤ ਕਰੇਗਾ।

ਸੈਂਟਰ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਨਵੀਨਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੀਨਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੋਜ ਅਧਿਐਨ, ਕਾਨਫਰੰਸਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਖੇਤਰ ਸਰਵੇਖਣਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਵੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸੀ.ਡੀ.ਈ.ਆਈ.ਐਸ. ਭਾਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਵਿਦਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਦੌਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਦੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਖੋਜ ਦੇ ਦਾਇਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਲੈਕਚਰ ਲੜੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਵੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਕੇਂਦਰ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਢਲਾ ਖੋਜ ਕਾਰਜ ਖੋਜ ਅਧਾਰਿਤ ਖਰੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਡਿਸਕਸ਼ਨ ਪੇਪਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਵੰਡਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
